Abstract

For the clousure of this issue, our journal has dedicated this article to the symposium proceedings, "Modernity and Heritage," held on November 20, 2025, at the Circasiana Palace in Quito. The symposium emerged from the temporary exhibition ''3 Times: Architecture narrated from our modernity'' organized by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, the Architecture College of Pichincha, and the Vice Ministry of Culture and Heritage. The exhibition aimed to present and bring together the works of three prominent Ecuadorian architects: Milton Barragán, Gilberto Gatto Sobral, and Diego Ponce Bueno, who represents different stages and sensibilities of Ecuadorian architecture.

The symposium features the participation of architects Gonzalo Diéz Ponce, Rafael Vélez Calisto, Ramiro Jácome, and Verónica Rosero, with Hernán Orbea Trávez serving as moderator. From their perspectives and technical approaches, the panelists contributed to the analysis and reflection on modern heritage and the legacy efforts of these three renowned architects.
